CHL No. 11 Noble Pass Route - Shasta

NO. 11 NOBLE PASS ROUTE - William H. Noble, accompanied by a party of citizens, showed the route for a wagon road across the Sierra Nevada in May 1852. It was from this point that emigrants got their first glimpse of the Sacramento Valley.

Location

The plaque is on Lassen Peak Hwy (Hwy 89) inside Lassen Volcanic National Park. From the State Park sign at the NW entrance on State Hwy 44, it is 3.7 mi. to the plaque on Hwy 89. From the ranger's pay station at the NW entrance, it is 2.8 miles on Hwy 89. The plaque is in a turnout on the south side of the Hwy. It is in front of a hillside of BIG chunks of rock.

Notes

The trail was used in the 1850's to 1870's. The Lassen Peak volcano exploded in 1915.
